Character Background and Description
5'7". Medium-length blonde hair. Slender build, with sharp cheeks.

Elizabeth Vogel never knew her birth parents. She was adopted from birth by Harold Vogel, an officer of the Acquisitions department of the military. She would often be left with her Human Aunt Alexis and Uncle Robert and grew up with their second child of six, Joanne Vogel. Joanne had a tolerable enough personality- if a bit giggly for Elizabeth's taste- Joanne's twin younger brothers Clark and Lex were loud, messy, smelly monsters that would instill a deep dislike of children. Alexis and Robert treated her politely but distantly and she always awaited her father's return from the most recent Acquisition.

She attended primary school with her cousins, and was frequently exposed to life with both races- her father lived in West Phanes, near the river, while her Aunt and Uncle lived closer towards the central part of East Phanes. The times her father was home and gone were a constant exercise in contrasts- Alexis was a mid-ranking member of the clergy and frequently brought Elizabeth and her cousins to religious events, while Robert was a low-tier paper-pusher in the government bureaucracy. Compared to her Aunt, trying to find humanity a new purpose and her Uncle, trying to maintain the status quo; her father and his friends' tales of adventures outside the walls of Phanes seemed drastically more appealing, and Elizabeth resolved that when she was Discovered Barren, like her father and his friends, she would join the military and learn what lived beyond.

After Elizabeth's Discovery at age 14, her life underwent a drastic shift. Her newfound Human status meant that she was now expected to spend more time with her Aunt and Uncle to integrate with Human culture more effectively and her father was spending less and less of his time in Phanes with her as he did for her cousin Joanne what her Aunt and Uncle had been doing for her. Elizabeth would listen with half an ear, but didn't understand why she had to marry young.

Upon her completion of primary school, Elizabeth made the decision to enter a vocational school to study Electrical Engineering. Whilst she enjoyed a moderately adventurous life in vocational school, she was frequently displeased by the constant proposals she had to fend off from her increasingly desperate peers, isolating herself further from her Human peers, who were unable to understand both her reluctance to settle down and her dislike of children. For a similar reason, and to avoid the potential trouble of being accused of anything inappropriate, she was unable to connect with any of her peers besides the two other students who had been adopted by a Barren parent.

In the present day, Elizabeth's continued relationship status is resulting in yearly increases in her taxes and a slow but noticeable decrease in the quality of her rations, Elizabeth is happily employed as junior repair staff in one of the government-run tablet libraries near the military barracks in Western Phanes, using her skills primarily to repair the array of devices that serve as Phanes Bay's publicly-available knowledge base. While her freedom is currently something she values dearly, every time she notices a decrease in the quality of her rations she can feel her resolve to live by herself, to avoid having to ever deal with smelly little monsters again, crumble a touch more.
